Sometimes it’s hard to see just how special we are to those who love us most.
Through the eyes of a little white dog, young readers will learn that they don’t have to perform like anyone else to gain unconditional love. My hope is that as your child falls in love with Obie (just the way he is), that it will cause them to fall in love with themselves too (just the way they are). When your child begins to see themselves as God sees them (illustrated through the eyes of Obie’s mom), they will begin to understand their purpose and destiny here on earth.
Children across the country LOVE Obie!
Here are some reviews by young readers.
A great book because he’s my dog Obie and this book explains exactly just how he actually is—except for the super human part. But this chef part is real because he’s a good taste sampler and he likes many foods. – Chase, 9 year old pet owner
I think it was a great story. I’d recommend it as a children’s book. I liked the end part when he [Obie] figured out that he doesn’t have to be human. – Owen, 10 years old
It was easy to understand and I loved it. Pretty much every part I liked, but I liked the treat and the snuggle part most—like at the end of his work job. – Emerie, 7 years old
I think this book is a 5 star because of the writing and illustrations. It was a very sweet story about the love between a doggie and his mommy. – Eva, 10 years old
Children will easily gravitate to this sweet story. “Little White Dog” does an easy-to-understand job of teaching children self-acceptance. School counselors say that is one of the most difficult ideas to teach children. Obie, the main character, will grab children’s hearts. The illustrator makes Obie look so snuggly. Having taught elementary children for over thirty years, this story lends itself to numerous reading skills. Skills including sequencing, predicting, comparison, inference as well as encouraging writing. My favorite part is how she always says, “Don’t be gone long.” This is a must-read for children. – Lydia, Elementary School Teacher of 35 years
